Sofia Antipolis solar floor lamp

"These days, it's so reassuring to be able to control your operating budget despite rising energy prices!"

Between 2021 and 2024, almost 150 street lamps will be installed in Sophia Antipolis (06), Europe's leading technology park. This ambitious project, initiated by the Sophia Antipolis urban community, is part of a resolutely forward-looking approach, combining innovation and sustainability in the renovation of public lighting.

Louis Despres, Director of Roads and Major Projects for the Sophia Antipolis urban community, shares his thoughts on this innovative undertaking:

The program to renovate the technopole's street lighting was initiated in 2018 and will be completed in 2024. Given the site's history of innovation, we naturally turned to solar-powered street lighting. Almost 33% of our street lighting is now powered by photovoltaic lighting. The Fonroche offer was chosen because of the durability and guarantees associated with their products. The additional cost of purchasing solar-powered streetlights was offset by the savings made by not having to connect them to the underground network.

"And, these days, it's so reassuring to be able to control your operating budget despite rising energy prices!

This pioneering project symbolizes the transition to a more responsible and efficient use of energy resources. The use of solar-powered streetlights represents an innovative solution for meeting public lighting needs while reducing the environmental footprint.
