Quebec chooses Fonroche solar LED lighting
Fonroche Lighting is gaining a foothold in Canada with three new solar projects
Public solar lighting for local residents
Two dual-arm LED streetlights have been installed in the streets of Laval, Quebec ’s third-largest city. Residents are now much safer at night, thanks to our off-grid lighting solution. One of the challenges with this project is the sharp drop in temperatures experienced in Canada every winter. This extreme cold can damage certain types of batteries. However, our powerful solar streetlights are fitted with our proprietary Power365 battery technology, designed to operate at temperatures down to –40°C. As a result, our public streetlights provide 365 nights of guaranteed illumination every year — however low the mercury plunges!
Car park with off-grid illumination
In Châteauguay, Quebec, Fonroche has brought light to the car park of the city’s technical services department. The solution comprises six solar urban streetlights. The City Council has thus made the parking facility a safer place for the municipal employees who use it, without adding to the electricity bill, since the Fonroche solution is entirely off-grid and doesn’t require any additional power.
Safety at a dangerous intersection
Our most recent installation is a road lighting project to improve safety at a dangerous junction in a forested area. Saint-Edmond-les-Plaines, Quebec, called on Fonroche Lighting to provide a solution for this intersection, which was previously unlit due to its isolated location. Our solar-powered streetlights are the smart choice for this project, especially since they were installed without the need for any heavy earthwork or the additional cost of grid connection and cabling. Indeed, the local council has saved a lot of money and has made this section of road safer in record time, with installation taking just 2 hours!
