On 23 June 2022, Uruguay’s Planning and Budget Office (OPP), the departments of Canelones and Paysandú, and France-based Fonroche Lighting signed an agreement at the French embassy in Montevideo to develop a pilot public lighting project.
One project, multiple goals
The renewable energy-based solution proposed by Fonroche Lighting will enable the Canelones and Paysandú authorities to reduce public lighting energy costs, bring the benefits of sustainable technologies to their local communities and cut their greenhouse emissions, in line with the 2015-2024 national energy efficiency plan drawn up by Uruguay’s Ministry of Industry, Energy and Mining.
French government backing
The French Ministry of the Economy has awarded the project a FASEP private-sector aid and study fund grant worth €639,000. The FASEP fund supports sustainable development feasibility studies and pilot projects led by French companies in developing countries.
Thank you to all the stakeholders for the trust they have placed in our company and thank you to Iluminica, our partner for this large-scale project.
